There is the need for us as a nation to deviate from this unproductive formal education ee are used to into a creative, functional and practicable education. Gege Craft Bastion adopts a learning process that focuses on the over-all development of the child, which is also accessible to all.
Curriculum is not the only criteria as far as GCB is concern, but the holistic growth as well as the over-all development of the African child in all facets of life. The truth is that class - room teaching should be adequately suplemented with co-curricular activities because it is the 'out of class' activities that affects all domains of life such as cognitive (intellectual), emotional, social, moral, cultural and aesthetics. Our present system of education has failed in this.
Gege Craf Bastion, a purely co-curricular training center has a responsibility to provide support to young Nigerian students, within basic 6 to 12 and undergraduate students, which can enable them venture into professional fields like: Home Science, Arts and crafts, Printing, Electronics, Painting, Bakery, etc.
Co-curricular activities have contributed immensely to the development of many nations, good examples are: India, Singapore and some other Korean nations who were formerly categorised as third world nations. Importance of co-curricular acrivities in school curriculum has been widely acknowledged by many countries in their respective curriculum frameworks. Example is the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) of India.
